setup not valid 32 bit

setup not a valid 32 bit

I am trying to do an upgrade, (run setup within windows xp). I have Windows XP Pro SP2 32 bit.
I am going to Windows Vista Beta 2, 64 bit.
It tells me setup.exe is not a valid 32 bit application. Can I go from 32 bit version to 64 or do I HAVE to clean install?

Clean install on a new partition and boot from the DVD

As the other post mentions, you have to do a clean install. There isn't any upgrade path for Vista x64, and likely won't be. The error comes from the fact that you're trying to execute a 64 bit binary in a 32 bit OS, which doesn't work. ---------- Mark Dietz PROnetworks <http://www.pro-networks.org> http://imnuts.gotdns.org/blog/
